Frequenly Asked Questions

We will hold in-bound transfers for 7 days after notification of receipt before we begin charging a storage fee of $10.00 per day.  We will hold a firearm for a maximum of 30 day without prior arrangements.  You may pay the storage fees in person to extend storage another 30 days. Items not claimed after 60 days of notification of receipt are forfeit and become the sole property of Side Door 4473 LLC. Storage fees are non-refundable.

We currently handle standard Title 1 (non-NFA-regulated) firearms:

• Handguns generally don't have length restrictions placed upon them, however certain accessories like a stock or forward grip may make them subject to NFA regulations.

• Rifles with a barrel length of 16 inches or more and an overall length of 26 inches or more fall under Title 1. 

• Shotguns with a barrel length of 18 inches or more and an overall length of 26 inches or more typically qualifies as a Title 1 firearm.

Title 1 firearms are those not specifically regulated by the NFA. This includes common firearms like rifles, shotguns, and pistols that meet certain length and configuration requirements. NFA firearms, on the other hand, encompass more specialized items such as short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), silencers (suppressors), machine guns, and destructive devices. 

Yes, there is no limit to the number of firearms that may be transferred in a single transaction.  You will pay the initial transfer fee plus any additional per gun fees thereafter.  Only one ATF form 4473 and one background check form is required regardless of the number of firearms in a single transaction.

You will pay your transfer and background check fees at the time of "delay" status and we will hold your firearms until they are "approved" for no additional fees. 

Should your background check be "denied" by the VA State Police, we will be unable to transfer your firearm to you.  Coordinating the return shipping of your firearm to the sending FFL/dealer for a refund is your responsibility and is performed at your cost (should there be any return shipping charges).  I will not charge you an additional transfer fee to facilitate your return shipment, however you are responsible for the inbound transfer fees and VSP background check fee of $2.00 ($5.00 non-resident).

All transfers are final once completed.  No returns for refund of transfer services are available. 

If you change your mind about a purchased firearm, it is best to contact the seller and have them hold shipment.  If the firearm has been shipped, but we have not taken possession of it, we may be able to refuse shipment from the shipping company- the sending FFL may accept the refused shipment as a return.  It is your responsibility to understand the process and potential costs associated with this approach - dealer restocking fees, return shipping fees, etc., if any, will be covered by you, the original purchaser.

Once we take possession of the firearm from the shipping company, we are required by the ATF to enter the firearms into our A&D books - you will be responsible for our FFL transfer fee at this point regardless of what you ultimately decided to do with the firearm. 

Should you change your mind after we take possession but before we transfer the firearm to you, you may be able to arrange return shipment to the selling FFL.  All costs for shipping and restocking are to be borne by you, the original purchaser.
